As you might have been aware, colleges of education are accepting admissions from qualified candidates in and out of Ghana. Peki Training College is also calling for enrollment from qualified students. Before we present to you what they are saying about their enrollment requirements, get a gist about the school.

WHAT IS PEKI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AND GOVCO IN SHORT?

Peki College of Education was originally founded and established as Government Training College in the old Christian town of Peki-Avetile on the 12th of February, 1954 with Mr. A.F Neal as her first Principal. This explains why the College has retained the acronym GOVCO (short for Government College) to date.

The College was started with thirty (30) men who were admitted to do the 2 Year Certificate ‘A’ Post ‘B’ Programme. The institution remained a single-sex (male) College until 1961 when it became co-educational with the admission of the first batch of twenty-five (25) females. GOVCO produced her first crop of teachers in 1956. The motto of the college is NIHIL SINNE LABORE (SUCCESS COMES BY HARD WORK).

In 1965, the College was moved to its present permanent site, between the beautiful ‘Wheto’ and “Akpato” (mountains).

How to Apply Online:

Applicants will first make a payment of Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 200.00) into the Colleges of Education- Ghana Account at any branch of the following bank nationwide:

1. Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.

Additionally, payment can also be made through mobile money wallets: Tigo Cash, Vodafone Cash, Airtel Money, and MTN Mobile Money by dialing short code *924*8# from all networks.

Upon payment, applicants will be given the following information:

A Personal Identification Number (PIN).

An Admission Application Serial Number.

With this PIN, applicants will then visit the Colleges of Education admission website: coeportal.edu.gh and follow specific guidelines to fill out the online application form.

Applicants should select three Colleges of their choice for their Program and an accompanying Ghanaian Language. In this case, Peki College of Education urges you to choose them as their first choice.

Requirements Needed for Admission.

1. WASSCE /SSSCE Qualification Applicants

For a WASSCE /SSSCE applicant, the general requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Program are as follows:

WASSCE Holders: CREDIT PASSES (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

SSSCE Holders: PASSES (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

Candidates awaiting the MAY/JUNE, 2022 WASSCE and NABPTEX RESULTS can also apply.

 

2. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Applicants

They must:

-have passed in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better).

-have credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subjects (for Science students).

3. Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants

They must:

-have passed in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better).

-have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).

4. Technical and Vocational Education and Training Applicants

They must:

-Possess Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds, and other authorized awarding bodies in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II in lieu of passes in English and Mathematics.

-Have NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects including English and Mathematics.

-Posses a National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF).

5. Foreign Qualifications

All foreign qualifications should be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to Teacher Education Institutions in Ghana.
